Helene Giselle de Boulet

Planner

My education background is a combination of Construction, Planning and Information Systems. I attended High School and Tertiary Level Education here in Trinidad and went abroad to University where I did my Bachelor of Science and first year of my Masters programme.

My work experience began at a very young age right out of high school at a company that was instrumental in building the Farmland Misschem Plant now known as PLNL and the Petrotrin FCCU/ GCX Upgrade back in the 90’s. There is where my experience began. I worked in the Civil Engineering Department and was exposed to a bit of everything. I learned to read drawings, worked with the surveyors to survey foundations, pipe racks, tank bases, all equipment levelling etc. I did slump testing and made cylinders to be sent for strength test on foundations. I did document Control and was in Accounts to help out with salaries and time keeping. I was basically a “jack of all trades, master of none”. After two years, I continued my studies and started working with Bechtel as a Project Controls Technician for Trains 1 of the LNG Plant. I stayed with Bechtel for three years, where my experience grew tremendously. After that I went onto Northern Construction for a year at the new Piarco Airport in the Quality Control department. Then to Calmaquip Engineering who was also the Mechanical Contractor for that said project. I was in charge of planning for the installation of all the air bridges, rotundas, elevators and other minor mechanical equipment installation. From there I went to Weldfab Limited for eight years and finally my home is now STORK since 12th May 2014.

Why Stork?

I heard of a position opening for a Planner/Scheduler, applied and eventually hired. Also, a few of my co-workers at Welfab had moved to Stork as well, which made my decision to move easier. I felt as if I had reached a point in my career where I needed to move forward. I like working at Stork because the environment is clean, relaxed, room for growth, good benefits, and decent salary. Once you deliver what is needed, there is no pressure on you. There is an open door policy with my bosses, which I totally appreciate.

Stork is family oriented. They care about employees. It’s not just talk, it is backed by their actions. Safety and Health are key. Also, their benefits, policies implemented, salaries paid, events promoted for employees, all make Stork apart from the rest. Stork is a good start for any employee who wants to come to a company where you can grow. Also, you can work and know that when you retire you are secure. That’s most important.

Daily responsibilities and tasks

To support the Proposals department by receiving the scope of work for all incoming bids that require schedules, read them thoroughly and develop the schedule. Then send to the Proposals Department for them to put it into the bid package for the client. I also work directly with each Project Manager if they need a schedule that is detailed and resource loaded I am here to assist and develop that for them as well. Also I maintain and update Stork’s Integrated Management Schedule (IMS) with current, new and forecasted job, equipment and resources for each Project Manager. Once the IMS is updated, that information is transferred to an excel database which I also maintain. This is a forecast of equipment needed month to month. There is a planning ticket log which I receive from each Project Manager, with his/her jobs current and forecasted. This logs their jobs and equipment to be used. This information drives the updates of the IMS and the excel database for equipment.

I like my position because of the idea of having two bosses with two different backgrounds, I learn from each of them. Also having to work with each Project Manager and their different categories of work. I learn about offshore work, onshore Fabric Maintenance, Mechanical Scope, Vessel Cleaning etc. Its very knowledge based. Also the flexibility of being able to go on a Client site is nice.
